LPTs Social Care were joined by LCC and CAMHS Social workers to reflect on the value that they bring to the Trust at a Conference held in February. Chris Slavin's introductory presentation praised the staff for their achievements and regognised that the integration between Health and Social Care staff was beneficial to staff and Users and was a "unique selling point" in the bid for Foundation Trust. Professor Peter Gilbert gave the keynote presentation which stressed the value of a holistic approach to care and that Social Work can work well with other disciplines.

The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) brought bundles of information and can be a resource for anyone searching for evidence based Social Care research.

Social Perspectives Network (SPN) gave insights into the approaches they welcome from a User perspective.

Ian Mathews, Social Care Advisor, rounded up the day with a summary of the years achievements, including a large number of people who have achieved post qualifying training and qualifications in Social work.

Anna Miners, General Manager Social Inclusion and Professional Social Care Lead, said "we should remember that LPT is a Health and Social Care Trust and bring the best of both to the proposed Foundation Trust - further Conferences are planned to assist with this"
