September Newsletter

Welcome to four new co-opted members of SPN's Executive Committee to strengthen service user representation. In alphabetical order they are:

Mashfiqul Joy Alam
Jayasree Kalathil
Richard Peacock and
Patsy Staddon.

They bring a richness of lived experience, diversity of backgrounds and knowledge to the Executive and are very welcome.

Special General Meeting

The Executive Committee was interrupted for the Special General Meeting which unanimously agreed to adopt the wording change to the objects set out on the website. We have now submitted this to the Charity Commission and hope to get the green light shortly.

SPN Funding

It's a pretty scary world out there for bankers, shoppers and house sellers. SPN's Executive was not exempt from the preoccupation with money. It endorsed a scheme for corporate membership, and noted two bids to the Department of Health for Section 64 Funding. While SPN has funding this year we need to find money for next year to maintain the work.

Congratulations to Terry

For those who haven't heard, Terry Bamford went to the IFSW Conference in Brazil last month to collect the prestigious diploma and medal in Memory of Andrew Mouravieff-Apostol, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to social work. Congratulations to Terry from all at SPN.
